About the event

Jen Truett is owner/operator of DHF and Team Dream Training Center's Head Trainer. In 2022, she earned the coveted US Dressage Federation (USDF) "Diamond Award" for earning all six USDF medals: Gold, Silver and Bronze and Gold, Silver and Bronze Freestyle Bars. In 2023, she earned the new and even more prestigious designation of "with distinction" for all three of her medals. All Jen's medals were earned on her personal, self-trained horses.  Jen is one of only 6 USDF FEI "B" Certified Instructors and has been a USDF Region 2 elected PM Delegate for many years. Jen and her 2014 Westfalen gelding, Absolute Dream, who Jen bought as a 2.5 year old from Reesink Horses in The Netherlands were honored to be members of the USEF Emerging Young Horse Program, coached by Christine Traurig in 2021. Jen and Dreamy were named the 2022 Intermediare 1 Champions of the USDF Dressage Finals with a 72.8%. Jen and her husband, Lenny, own and operate Dancing Horse Farm, Inc. on their 40 acre farm in the historic town of Lebanon, Ohio. They purchased the fairly run-down farm December 27, 2006. Many years of hard work, rehabilitation, dedication, dreaming and love went into building what is now a thriving business with multiple trainers, many students, both local and remote, and an environment of acceptance, support, and comradery.

Over the years, Jen has competed, trained and coached hundreds of dressage horses and riders at all levels, many of whom have earned USDF medals, Regional Champion/Reserve, and USDF year-end awards. She and her husband, Lenny, own the expansive Dancing Horse Farm (DHF) which is home to Team Dream Training Center (TDTC) in Lebanon OH. DHF houses 40-50 dressage horses and hunters. Jen remains committed to furthering her own education and welcomes her clients to join her on her educational journey, so DHF hosts multiple events each year.

Training Methodology: Jen's Dare 2 Dream education method teaches riders to:

  • Communicate more effectively with horses using the language of "horse"
  • Reduce reaction time lags so that learning moments aren't missed
  • Develop a vocabulary to describe what they are feeling in both their and their horse's bodies while riding
  • Understand their and their horse's responsibilities
  • Improve physical and mental control and coordination
  • Increase body awareness, core strength, and multitasking capabilities
  • Develop the ability to focus on, and simultaneously process, both internal and external stimuli while riding.

In a nutshell, Dare 2 Dream teaches riders to "notice" what is going on and use a learned skill set to make positive changes in their body and the horse's in the same way that "talented" riders do unconsciously. Jen specializes in teaching in a method that creates a positive, calm, supportive environment. This learning environment has created an amazingly supportive, team-like atmosphere at DHF and among her clients that is fairly unique among most large riding facilities. Our clients support each other and cheer for each other's successes, instead of the common environment of competition and always trying to outdo each other.
